Autopsy pending after body found near busy Tennessee road

A death investigation is continuing in Hendersonville after human remains were found in a wood line near Vietnam Veterans Boulevard on Wednesday, police said.

A Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontract worker discovered the remains in a small wooded area near New Shackle Island Road while picking up trash, according to a press release issued by the department.

Investigators say the remains are those of a white female, about 4’9, 105 pounds with brown hair.

They have not released an identity.

A cause of death is still under investigation, pending an autopsy.
