Albany Police investigating shooting that left six injured

Albany Police are investigating a shooting that took place at a large gathering on Myrtle Ave. during the early hours of Friday morning that left six people injured.

According to police, at around 12:15 a.m., officers responded to a home on the 600 block of Myrtle Ave. for reports of a shooting. Though no one was at the scene, officers located evidence consistent with gunfire. 

At around 12:20 a.m., officers in the area were flagged down by a 17-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound to his arm. He was treated by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

Police say that shortly after, two victims of the shooting entered the emergency room at Albany Medical Center Hospital with gunshot wounds and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Three other victims who sustained gunshot wounds were self-transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The six victims of the shooting include:

  • A 16-year-old male from Schenectady sustained gunshot wounds to both legs
  • A 16-year-old male  from Schenectady sustained a gunshot wound to his buttocks
  • A 17-year-old male from Albany sustained a gunshot wound to his arm
  • A 18-year-old male from Schenectady sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh
  • A 19-year-old male from Albany sustained a gunshot wound to his foot
  • A 19-year-old male from Troy sustained a graze bullet wound to his head and a gunshot wound to his elbow
