Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, an Indian student of Telugu descent drowned in Barberville Waterfalls in Albany in New York, USA on July 7.
The deceased has been identified as Sai Surya Avinash Gadde, a native of Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh. He moved to the US in 2023 and was pursuing ‘Master of Science’ (MS) at Trine University.
According to his family members, Sai Surya went to his friend’s house on July 7, and later visited the waterfall as it was a long weekend. Tragically, he slipped into the falls and died.
The Indian Embassy extending condolences to his family, wrote on ‘X’, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Mr. Sai Surya Avinash Gadde, a student at Trine University, who drowned on 7th July at Barberville Falls, Albany, NY. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his grieving family and friends. @IndiainNewYork is extending all necessary assistance, including issuance of NOC for the transportation of Mr Gadde’s mortal remains to India. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
